چکیده

There is now extensive interest in reasoning about moving objects. A PST knowledge base is a set of PST-atoms which are statements of the form “Object o is/was/will be at location L at time t with probability in the interval [L,U]”. In this paper, we study mechanisms for belief revision in PSTKBs. We propose multiple methods for revising PST-KBs. These methods involve finding maximally consistent subsets, as well as changing the spatial, temporal, and probabilistic components of the atoms. We show that some methods cannot satisfy the AGM axioms for belief revision, while others do but are coNP-hard. Finally we present an algorithm for revision through probability change which runs in polynomial time and satisfies the AGM axioms.

Belief revision in a temporal framework

We study a branching-time temporal logic of belief revision where the interaction of belief and information is modeled explicitly. The logic is based on three modal operators: a belief operator, an information operator and a next-time operator. We consider three logics of increasing strength. The …rst captures the most basic notion of minimal belief revision. The second characterizes the qualit...

The dynamics of relevance: adaptive belief revision

This paper presents eight (previously unpublished) adaptive logics for belief revision, each of which define a belief revision operation in the sense of the AGM framework. All these revision operations are shown to satisfy the six basic AGM postulates for belief revision, and Parikh’s axiom of Relevance. Using one of these logics as an example, we show how their proof theory gives a more dynami...

Yet More Modal Logics of Preference Change and Belief Revision

We contrast Bonanno’s ‘Belief Revision in a Temporal Framework’ [15] with preference change and belief revision from the perspective of dynamic epistemic logic (DEL). For that, we extend the logic of communication and change of [11] with relational substitutions [8] for preference change, and show that this does not alter its properties. Next we move to a more constrained context where belief a...

AGM Meets Abstract Argumentation: Expansion and Revision for Dung Frameworks

In this paper we combine two of the most important areas of knowledge representation, namely belief revision and (abstract) argumentation. More precisely, we show how AGM-style expansion and revision operators can be defined for Dung’s abstract argumentation frameworks (AFs). Our approach is based on a reformulation of the original AGM postulates for revision in terms of monotonic consequence r...
